Many women’s fertility is damaged by a common and treatable condition, which is why PCOS awareness is important
September is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Awareness Month, dedicated to bringing awareness to this common but treatable hormonal disorder that can prevent some women from getting pregnant. TRM’s Dr. Jessica Scotchie was a guest on “Good Morning Chattanooga: FOX Edition” to talk about the symptoms of PCOS, and how some doctors may mistakenly diagnose it as something else.
“If you look at women who are struggling with irregular menstrual cycles, 80 to 85 percent of those women will have this condition,” said Dr. Scotchie. “If you’re having difficulty having a baby and you’re cycles are irregular, this could be one of the PCOS symptoms that’s affecting you.”
