Is Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for Menopause Safe?

A report causes confusion, and Dr. Murray sorts it all out

hormone replacement therapy Chattanooga Times Free PressFollowing a 2002 report that created a scare about the health risks of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for relief of menopause symptoms, many women abandoned the therapy. Dr. Rink Murray addressed the subject in the Chattanooga Times Free Press to set the record straight, saying that HRT is an excellent choice for many women but not for all women.

“It clearly relieves some of the symptoms associated with menopause and promotes bone health,” Murray says. “It may even provide heart protective benefits, if given at the right dose and time in relation to menopause.”
