Welcome

Our Facilities

TRM's lobbyFinding our office easily is the first step to an enjoyable visit to Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.

Our office is located in a private setting, with easy parking.  Once inside TRM offices, you will find a restful, friendly environment. We have a small anterior waiting room and a sub-waiting area just around the corner from our water wall. Feel free to sit wherever you are most comfortable.

Our medical team and ancillary staff was hand-selected because of their genuine good nature and their proven commitment to putting the patient’s needs first. As private facility, all of your consultations will be between just you and your physician and/or nurse. Although we do greatly value resident education, we do not utilize residents in our clinic.

Every detail of our lab was selected to maximize your chances of pregnancy. The IVF lab is located in the heart of our facility and is separated from the rest of the facility by an air-lock. Within the lab there are specialized air filters which exceed hospital standards. The air filters serve to remove any potential particles, odors or vapors which can prove toxic to embryos. Even the paint on the walls, the glue in the flooring and the cabinetry was selected to keep harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to a minimum. The lab itself is stocked with state-of-the-art technology which allows us to micromanipulate gametes and embryos with techniques such as ICSI (to promote fertilization), assisted hatching (to increase pregnancy rates), and embryo biopsy (for genetic testing). We are using the most up to date technique for freezing embryos, vitrification, which has shown to increase the survival rate of thawed embryos. Finally, the lab layout is specifically designed so we won’t have to transport embryos any significant distances at any point in the IVF process.

Chattanooga’s Premier IVF Lab with the Newest Cutting Edge Technology and Equipment
In 2008, Drs. Murray and Scotchie, and our laboratory directors Amy Jones and Shan Wilkinson took 7 months to plan the design of the IVF lab as a “clean room,” with specialized high pressure air flow to ensure superb air quality conditions to grow human embryos. We carefully selected every piece of equipment, from using products with low to no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), to having medically certified gas lines installed, and an antivibration table for micromanipulation procedures such as ICSI. We also implemented numerous security measures and equipment alarms to ensure both the safety of our embryos and safeguard against technical problems which could compromise embryo viability. After building completion, we conducted rigorous air quality control and equipment tests for several months, all prior to starting our IVF Program with patients, to ensure that we could deliver the highest possible chance of pregnancy. Repeated testing has shown the air quality in these rooms exceeds hospital standards for operating rooms.

CAP Accredited and CLIA Certified
What is the significance of CAP Accreditation? The College of American Pathologists (CAP) Laboratory Accreditation Program is an internationally recognized program that helps laboratories achieve the highest standards of excellence to positively impact patient care. The goal of the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is to improve patient safety by advancing the quality of pathology and laboratory services through education, standard setting, and ensuring laboratories meet or exceed regulatory requirements. CAP inspectors also examine the entire staff's qualifications, the laboratory's equipment, facilities, safety program and record, as well as the overall management of the laboratory. Tennessee Reproductive Laboratory has been awarded an accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists, based on the results of an on-site inspection. The 2010 CAP inspection resulted in zero deficiencies indicating that the laboratory is one of an exclusive group of reproductive laboratories around the country that have met the highest standards of excellence.

Our lab’s performance speaks for itself. Now you know what sets it apart. Tennessee Reproductive Medicine offers the highest quality technology in a compassionate environment.
